Computer vs Laptop

Published by mstokes1 under opinions Edit This

I have had my laptop about 2 to 3 years now. (My husband has 2 laptops, one which he is about to give to the kids.)

There is no way I would go back to a computer now, I am so used to my laptop. I can carry it with me everywhere that we go. When we stay at hotels on vacation, we choose the hotels with wireless internet, and I am able to keep up to date on all my information.

Any time that I go out of town, my laptop goes with me. And we go out of town several times a year, visiting family, or just short vacations.

My laptop has everything that I need: Internet access, cd burner, dvd player, and so much more.

The Fair Is In Town

Published by mstokes1 under opinions Edit This

The fair is in town this week. I have noticed that two things are missing from our fair this year, the Space Needle and the Pirate Ship.

I can’t really remember the Space Needle, but I do know that I have always forbidden my son to ride the Pirate Ship. Although there is a bar going across, I nearly fell out of one 17 years ago. So this is one thing, that I am glad to see gone. Now my son and I won’t have to argue over him riding it.

I am also glad to see that many of the rides now have seat belts. This is a big accomplishment and will make parents feel better. I know that most of the rides are safe, and are tested time and time again for safety, but seat belts still help me give a little extra sigh of relief.

Now, I will just be glad when the fair is gone. In my opinion, they over charge for everything, and when the leave, nearly every family in town is broke.

Halloween

Published by mstokes1 under opinions Edit This

Halloween is approaching us soon. Although I do not really believe in going out house to house, I do take my children to the events that the local Mall and Walmart usually have every year.

At the mall, you get to watch a short 30 minute clip of Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin, get a free bag of popcorn while watching the clip, sometimes can get your face painted, and most of the individual stores do give candy to kids as they pass by.

Walmart usually has several games, like the fishing for candy, ring toss, cake walk, and usually have a costume contest most years (but my kids have never entered into that)

All in all, my kids enjoy it and have a great time.

Less Than 2 weeks Until Time To Vote

Published by mstokes1 under Politics Edit This

Less than 2 weeks until time to vote. Are you ready for this? Do you know who you are going to vote for? Are you prepared for the changes that will be made regardless of which nominee wins?

There is so much to think about, and so much to worry about. I know that I have been praying, and will continue to pray, for the best out come.

It’s time for us all to stop being selfish, and think about the best interest for our Country as a whole. It’s time to listen to God, listen with our hearts, and stop listening to the reporters and media.

God will provide for us, and we need to have faith in him. I hope all Christians will join me in prayer over the next 13 days.

Congressman Murtha of Pennsylvania calls people Racist and Rednecks

Published by mstokes1 under Politics Edit This

Congressman John Murtha of Pennsylvania first said that folks are racist, then soon after also called them rednecks. What will he call them next?

Gretawire.com had a poll last night that was very amusing. It was a prediction - What do you think Murtha will say next? Do you think he will apologize or do you think he will say that he meant white trash?

It’s people like this that do not need to be in any type of office. Just because others may not agree with him on who should be the next President of the United States, does not make them any of the above (racist nor redneck). And he has no right to be name calling. This type of immaturity is what we have in office now days, no wonder the nation is sinking.

Oprah Winfrey to go Campaigning with Obama

Published by mstokes1 under Politics Edit This

You read the title correctly, Oprah Winfrey to go Campaigning with Barack Obama.

I wonder how many viewers that Oprah has already lost in the last couple of months, and how many more she will lose within the next two weeks for choosing to go campaigning with Obama?

I am not one of her viewers, I have never been a fan of Oprah, never. And now that she has been acting the way she has for the past couple of months, I will never view her show, or any other show that she may be on.

Way to go Oprah, keep those ratings going down.

Fox Rocks!

Published by mstokes1 under News, opinions Edit This

I have to give a big kudos to Fox News Channel. I have discontinued to watch CNN and NBC because of their lies, biased opinions and avoiding of facts.

But, Fox News is not afraid to bring the facts to us, making us aware of all things out there. If it were not for Fox News, there is so much that we would not know, we would be in the dark on many things!

Of course, it could be also just that CNN and NBC are cowards. They could be afraid of the ‘threats’ made by some, about not reporting facts OR ELSE.

Regardless, Fox News reporters are not cowards, and are reporting as they should.

Kudos, Fox!

Thumbs Down on Hughes Net Satellite Internet

Published by mstokes1 under opinions Edit This

Now that I have been with Hughes Net Satellite Internet for a week, I can give a further review of their service.

Like WildBlue Satellite Internet Service, they have a limit on the amount of MB that you can use. But with Hughes Net Satellite it is a daily limit of 200 MB.

Now I am going to back track. Although I knew that I was exceeding my limit with Wild Blue Internet Service, I did not know by how much or any details. They did not give me a link to go check my usage, etc.

When I let WildBlue go and went back to dial up, I still had no idea how many MB I was using a day, a month, etc.

Now, with Hughes Net Satellite Internet Service, they give you a link where you can go check all of your information, including keeping an hour by hour report of your MB’s used.

My son logged into myspace, checked his messages on myspace, and listened to about 4 songs.

I checked the MB’s used after he done these few things, it was 60+ MB’s used.

Needless to say, as much as I do online, I am exceeding my limit every day within 2-3 hours.

For those of you who do not know what happens when you exceed your limit - the internet basically is shut off. You may can get your default home page to load if your lucky, but you can do basically nothing else.

I am glad that they have a 30 day no cancellation fee, because first thing Monday I am going to cancel their service.

Well I have learned my lesson. Satellite Internet Services charge $50+ a month and limit your usage to a ridiculously low amount.

With DSL, you are not limited. But Satellite Internet Services know that you are not capable of getting DSL if you are calling them in the first place. So they are going to take advantage of you. DSL - unlimited you can get now a days for $20-$40 a month. I will be so glad when DSL becomes available in my area. Until then, I may have low dial up service, but atleast I am not shut off after just a couple of hours.

Border Control and Illegal Immigrants

Published by mstokes1 under opinions Edit This

We need better Border Control to stop the Illegal Immigrants from coming and taking over our Country.

A few other things that could be done to keep the Illegal Immigrants out, and discourage the other ones from wanting to come to our Country;

Stop enforcing the Illegal Immigrants requests and demands. They came to Our Country, as it IS. We should not have to “change” things in Our Country to please Them.

Stop allowing these individuals to come to our hospitals with no Social Security card/number. The ones who do present a Social Security number, it needs to be verified and validated. (Including checking for possible Identity Theft) They must also have to pay for their hospital/Doctor visits, and not receive free services. If anyone should receive free services in the U.S.A., it should be the Americans, not foreigners.

Stop allowing these individuals to enter their children into our schools with no Social Security Numbers, Birth Certificates and all other pertinent information.

Run BackGround Checks on them when they apply for a job or a loan. DENY them the job or loan when it is discovered they do not have a Valid Social Security Number and are not CITIZENS of the U.S.A.

Stop giving them FREE money and Business Loans to come to our Country and open their own business. This money should be given to the AMERICANS to open businesses. Keep the money in the American’s pockets and in the U.S.A. (As opposed to the foreigners pockets who are sending half of it back to their hometown in their Country)
Stop giving them our Disability and Retirement Money. It does not matter how many years they worked in their Country. Let them draw Disability and Social Security from their own Country ONLY. Not from our Country, the money that the Americans have spent their entire lives contributing to, only to have it near extinct by the time they are retirement age.

Stop businesses from hiring foreigners simply because their customers are demanding it, requesting it, or are dissatisfied. If they (the customers) cannot speak English, that is their problem, not ours. Learn to speak English or go home.

At the rate it is going, Americans will be the minority before too long, and possibly be extinct once millions get tired of the ways here and move to other Countries (look out Canada, here we come!). Can you see explaining to your grandchildren in 30 years why you are one of the only American families left in the United States of America?

The sooner that Congress takes care of this problem, this issue, the sooner the American people can take America back!

A Few Differences Between Democrats and Republicans

Published by mstokes1 under Politics Edit This

We recently discovered that a relative in her mid 50’s, did not know the difference between Democrat and Republican. She believed (Was told by her husband) that the Democrats were for poor people and the Republicans were for Rich people. This is so not true!

First of all, the Democrats are in favor of raising taxes the majority of the time. The Republicans are not. This can be proven by checking their vote history. (Sentaors like Barack Obama, John McCain for example, but of course all of the others also.)

Democrats are Pro-Choice and Republicans are Pro-Life. In other words, Democrats believe it is alright to murder an unborn or newborn child regardless of the circumstances. Republicans believe that life begins at conception. (And yes, they do believe it is ok if a woman has an abortion due to a rape or incest, so long as there is a logical reason.)

Democrats believe that guns kill people and want to take away every persons guns. Republicans know that guns do not kill people, people kill people. I promise you, if a gun walks into my house trying to kill me, I won’t call the cops because I will have a heart attack first. All of the hunters in the world need to really worry about this…. This could end your Hunting forever.

Democrats are also for animal rights. Republicans do not kill pets, they kill the foods that they are going to take home and eat. (Which is no worse than purchasing the meat at the grocery store.) So I can understand why vegetarians are Democrat, but all the meat eating Democrats are hypocrites for being against this.

Now, that is the facts about some differences between Democrats and Republicans.

From my personal experience, I’ve not known any God-Fearing Christians that are Democrats. Christians are mostly Republicans.

If it weren’t for Democrats, we would still have prayer in schools, amongst many other things.

So in short, if you want to raise taxes, kill babies, stop hunting, and continue to lose your Religious freedom, then vote Democrat. Because that is what you will get.

If you want to keep taxes as they are, save babies lives, continue to hunt, and continue your Religious freedom, then vote Republican.

I know that a lot of people do not like John McCain because he is in his 70’s and has somewhat of a temper.

This election should not be based on age OR race. It should be based on what you want for your Country, your future, and what you stand for or against.

Election is less than 3 weeks away. I hope that all of the voters keep these things in mind as you head off to vote.
