Debate - John McCain and Obama
John McCain definitely won last nights debate, he answered every question perfectly.
Barack Obama on the other hand, did not. One question especially, he really did not answer well. The question was something along the lines of, “What do you NOT know, and how will you learn it?”
His reply was that what he doesn’t know he will ask his wife.
His answer makes it obvious that should he make it to the White House, his wife will actually be the President. Because there is A LOT that he doesn’t know, as he has admitted in the past few weeks.
Even if I were to have ever considered voting for him, this by itself would have changed my mind. I still have a copy saved on my computer, of Michelle Obama’s thesis (that she wrote in college) that was published on snopes earlier this year. Yes, it is the real thing, and it shows just how racist she is and how she feels about white people.
Secondly, he never did get around to answering the portion of the question about what he does not know.
John McCain did answer this part of the question, and answered it extremely well. His answer was that he doesn’t know what everyone else doesn’t know, what will happen in the future (basically).
I do not think anyone could have answered the question better than John McCain did.
And Drill, Baby, Drill. I’m ready for lower gas prices. Not to mention, I completely agree with McCain on his statements of sending millions of dollars to Countries who hate America.

I think you pegged it right on. Good article
Actually, his reply was that his wife is more of an expert on what he does not know than he is. I believe you will find that to be the case with most husbands and wives. You should probably try to listen more carefully.
Also, Senator McCain did not answer the energy question correctly. He stated that we are sending $700 billion per year overseas to pay for energy. The actual amount is about half that. Look it up.
To add to Len’s point, the country we import the most oil from is actually Mexico. They might not like us either but I don’t think that is who McCain was speaking of.
Ultimately I think this campaign comes down to hope/change vs. fear/stagnation. One campagin tries to motivate us with hope while the other tries to scare us, both stretch the facts for their own purpose.
I put together a review of the debate (along with a count of the number of lies) at: http://anotherdamnblog.com/index.php/review-of-the-second-debate/#comment-263
Would love to know your thoughts.
Thanks for the post on my site. I’m curious if people self select into channels they feel will match up with their views. IE. Hard core conservatives are only going to watch Fox News so when they take a poll it is going to be skewed.
NOTE: I will watch Fox News as well so I can hear the Far Right ideology and rhetoric. I do this because I think it is healthy to hear and be aware of ideas that conflict with your own.
I also agree with Len. McCain did overstate the dollars by at least half. I think that he has seen too many of those Boon Pickens commercials. Both of the candidates got loose with claims. That’s to be expected though.
I also agree with ep’s comments on what channel you watch the debates on may skew your opinion of debate performance. I watch the debates on PBS. The talking heads on PBS don’t squawk nearly as loud as the entertainment news networks.
As for my opinion on who won the debates… If I had to declare a winner of the debate, I’d say McCain. McCain seemed to be more on the attack and he had Obama frustrated (like when Obama demanded to break the agreed upon forum rules to he could offer a rebuttal). Obama was more playing it low key and not making any splashes (I expect him to be more on the attack next debate because of the Ayer’s ads). He for the most part cruised through this debate because he knows unless something crazy happens the election is his. One of those lose the battle but win the war tactics.
In case you are looking for my bias, I’m not voting for either candidate because both parties are irresponsibly wasting our hard earned money at an alarming rate.
Woo-hoo! I love this review. Thanks for a truthful, unbiased report of the events. Keep it up!
I find the discussion of who won the debate to be irrelevant. It was not a true debate. It is a choreographed dance of a false dichotomy. Neither is worthy to take the oath to uphold and defend the constitution. Both showed how they feel about the constitution when they supported FISA and the dissolution of the 4th amendment.
What was it that Barr, McKinney and Baldwin had to say?
